We are the Missionary Servants of Divine Providence (MSDP)
here in the United States and in Nigeria we also have a Sister Affiliation
known as the Missionary Servants of Divine Providence Foundation Sisters
(MSDPFS). This is a consecrated group of Charismatic and Eucharistic women
religious formed to continue being the hands and feet of our Lord Jesus Christ
the Savior, on both local and international platforms in the service to the
poor and the less privileged in our society. The inspiration came in August 20th
2007 to Rev. Sr. Justina Udeagha with
Rev. Fr. Andrew Ifele and Very Rev. Fr. Mancha Joseph Zi who were compelled by
the love of Jesus Christ after witnessing to the lack of true love being
expressed by many in our world and society towards the good of the poor and the marginalized. Being motivated by
the Spirit of God, we came together with dedication, the spirit of service and
evangelization, to care for the less fortunate and the wounded of our
society. Its members make public vows of chastity, love of one another,
obedience, and poverty: “... a free act of the will inspired by love (Can. 573
par 2) They dedicate themselves to an apostolic life of contemplation.
The
inspirational charism of this congregation lies in a generous response to
giving the love that knows no boundaries to others in need. Our mission is to
bring Jesus Christ and our creed closer to people of diverse
nationalities, youth, children, orphans, and wounded. We strive to
respond with love and ever-renewed fidelity and docility to the needs of our time.
Ours, is a
home for all who seek God with a
sincere and open hearts. It is also for
those who do not know God but are in need of human help and care. Jesus says,
“And the King will answer, I tell you solemnly, in so far as you did this to
one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did it to me.” (Matt. 25: 40).
The only demand on them is to have a docile spirit and willingness that
will rise up and conform with our Master Jesus Christ. Our Lord Jesus Christ also emphasizes in the commandment
of love “To love your neighbor as yourself.” He spent himself in the service
for humanity and bid us to do likewise.” (Eph. 2, Jn. 15: 12, Matt. 22 :38-40)
He gives rain and sunshine to the poor and the rich alike. He provided for the
Samaritan woman at the well. (Jn. 4: 1-26). The birds of the air neither toil
nor till, yet our heavenly Father keeps them and they lack nothing. (Matt. 6:
26). We received without pay; let us give without asking for reward. In bearing
witness to Jesus in this way, our compassionate and loving Savior, our
contemplative life is modeled by that of our Blessed Mother Mary, (Lk.2: 51) in
assisting the wounded like the Good Samaritan. Charism is a dynamic force which
responds to the needs of the time and circumstances.
As a child and growing congregation, we have not
yet attained to a canonical status in the Roman Catholic Church.
With prayers and time, we hope to reach
that level. For with God all things are possible.
We have been
privileged to have 501(c)(3) US tax-deductible charity status since 2010 in the
United States and for our Sister affiliate in Nigeria, we have also been
Incorporated under the companies and allied matters act no 1, of 1990, Part 'C'
since 2012. We have engaged charitably in subsidizing tuition for some indigent children
and youth in Nigeria and Ghana according to our meager income.
Our motto
summarizes it all, which in essence is our watch-dog. It says “IN ALL THINGS
PUT ON LOVE” (Col 3; 14).
